What Modern Science Would be Like Without the Cell Theory
The Cell Theory was a huge discovery. It not only proves that every single organism contains cells, but it also greatly advanced modern science. The previous lack of understanding the human body was resolved by this discovery. Today, we acknowledge the phenomenal works of scientists Robert Hooke, Matthias Schleiden, and Theodore Schwann (Tavassoli). Using nothing but an amazing microscope and thin slices of bottle cork, Robert Hooke studied cells (Tavassoli). With what was already discovered, Matthias Schleiden and Theodore Schwann worked together to formulate the Cell Theory in 1839 (Mallery). If these scientists hadn't discovered what made up organisms, modern science would be a lot harder. Not only would it impact scientists, it would also change views of other occupations such as, a coroner. A coroner is the person who performs autopsies, the surgery to try to find out how a person died. Without knowing that the human body contained cells, a coroner would not be able to perform their job correctly or accurately. In conclusion, the discovery of the Cell Theory has greatly impacted and improved modern science.
