The Discovery of the Theory
Once upon a time, there was a rabbit named Theodore Schwann. He and Matthias Schleiden, another rabbit, were best friends. They had been in school together all their lives and had a dream of becoming successful scientists. The two worked hard and finally their dream came true. However, Theodore and Matthias wanted to be even bigger. They had heard stories of amazing scientific breakthroughs. Such as, the describing of the electric battery, the atomic theory, Avogadro's law, and Ohm's law. They felt like nobody knew who they were. And this is how they decided to create a Cell Theory. The next day, Theodore and Matthias were still pondering what the theory should be. Whilst taking a stroll through town, they ran into Theodore's old friend from college, Thomas Schebel. Since Thomas was a myna bird, one of the smartest species of birds, Theodore and Matthias decided to ask him for help. He advised them to see the wise owl, Robert Hooke. He was the one who had discovered cells on thin slices of bottle cork using his new microscope. With an address and high hopes, Theodore and Matthias set off on their journey.
After conquering winding paths and dangerous mountains, Theodore and Matthias finally reach Robert Hooke's old oak tree. They knock on the chipping wood and wait for an answer. When they don't get one, they try again. No answer. Not believing that Robert was not home, the two friends walked right in. They found the owl lying back in a rocking chair, wings falling limp at his sides. Theodore and Matthias tried to ask him about the cells he discovered, but Robert was not listening. He told the friends that, because of his old age, he cannot think straight and is afraid he won't live another day.
Although they did not know the owl well, Theodore and Matthias were greatly saddened. They chose to stay until Robert died. After several hours, they found that he had passed away in his sleep. It wasn't long before they realized that creating a theory might no longer be possible. So Theodore and Matthias started on their way home. However, on the way out, a lamp on a desk caught Matthias' eye. He hopped over to the desk to turn off the light when he noticed a piece of paper with some scientific formulas on it. He picked it up and realized it was Robert's results after discovering cells.
Matthias and Theodore were thrilled with what they found. They ran home as fast as they could shouting, “we found it, the key to success!” and using that piece of paper, the two best friends formulated the Cell Theory. The word got out quickly and people were fascinated by their work. Newspaper articles were written and Theodore Schwann and Matthias Schleiden became famous. Their dream came true. All thanks to an old friend and an even older owl.
ATTENTION: THIS STORY DOES NOT ACCURATELY REFLECT HISTORICAL EVENTS. THERE WAS NO OLD OWL AND THEODORE AND MATTHIAS WERE CERTAINLY NOT RABBITS. THE MYAN BIRD WAS ALSO MADE UP
